Ski Patrol Sweden Rescue will be our host to the XXIV FIPS Congress in Riksgränsen, Sweden, 300 km north of the polar circle. Above 68° north, Riksgränsen is Sweden’s northern most ski resort. Right on the border of Norway and the beautiful fjords surrounding Narvik.
With great distances, vast wilderness and arctic climate, long dark midwinter days and never ending
midnight sun skiing.

Congress Information
How to get to Riksgränsen:
Fly to Stockholm, then to Kiruna (appx.1,5hrs flight time), bus transfer is appx. 1,5 hrs. There is also a choice to fly into Narvik, Norway. The stretch between Narvik and Riksgränsen is serviced by the VY train and this will not be included in the conference price.
Narvik is situated about 45 min by train from Riksgränsen. The train stops at Riksgränsen.
All conference attendees will stay at Riksgränsen Hotel.
All meals (except on Narvik Visit day) and conference meetings will take place at Riksgränsen Hotel.
The ski area is right outside the hotel lobby, ski-in from the hills.
Narvik Visit:
Possibility to go skiing in Narvik, which is a town in Norway situated right by the Atlantic Ocean. Narvik is one of the important seaports for iron ore, which is mined in Kiruna (world’s largest iron ore mine). visitnarvik.com. The cost of the trip to Narvik will be in addition to the Congress cost.
The Congress price will include:
- Choice of accommodation types
- Ski pass during the week (22-27 April)
- Three meals / day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Morning coffee on indoor days with presentations, except lunch on Wednesday. Gala dinner on Friday is included.
- Conference room for 100 attendees
- Beverage: Lunch and dinner consists of non-alcoholic choices
- Bus transfer from and to Kiruna airport on 21 April and 28 April only
The optional trip to Narvik is not included in the congress price. More information and the cost will be provided close to the time.
Adult ski/snowboard hire (rental) is available at an extra cost. You will need to make your own reservation at www.riksgransen.se/skidakning/sportshop-skiduthyrning
The program for the Congress will be released over the coming weeks with an opening ceremony on the Monday, the visit to Narvik on Wednesday and closing dinner on the Saturday.

Hotel single bed room
This cozy single room of about 10 sqm is for 1 person and features a single bed and TV, bathroom with a shower and WC. Bed linen, towels and breakfast buffet are included. Free WiFi is available in the room and in public areas.
Hotel double bed room
These charming double rooms for 2 people come with divisible double bed and are about 20 sqm. They feature good storage space and a workplace, a bathroom with shower or bath and WC. Breakfast, bed linens and towels are included.
Hotel 3 bed room
Double room for 2-3 people with a divisible double bed and 1 pull-out bed (fold-down upper bunk bed), approx. 20 sqm. This room features good storage space and a workplace. Bathroom with shower or bath and WC. Bed linens, towels and breakfast buffet are included as well as free WiFi.
Skier – 2 bed room
These cozy, simpler rooms are for 2 people who are looking for prime access to skiing and have good storage for gear. They are about 10 sqm. and feature a pull-out sofa bed for 1 person and 1 pull-out bunk bed, a bathroom with shower and WC. You do make your own beds.
Skier – 3 bed room
These cozy, simpler rooms are for 3 people who are looking for prime access to skiing and have good storage for gear. They are about 10 sqm. and feature a pull-out sofa bed for 1 person and 1 pull-out bunk bed, a TV, bathroom with shower and WC. The room comes with a complimentary breakfast buffet. You do make your own beds.
Skier – 4 bed room
These cozy, simpler rooms are for 4 people who are looking for prime access to skiing and have good storage for gear. They are about 14 sqm. and feature a divisible sofa bed for 2 people and 1 bunk bed with a wider lower bed (120cm) a large bathroom with shower and WC. The room comes with a complimentary breakfast buffet. You do make your own beds.
